UltraEdge: a nationwide presence, a centralized EEC strategy
UltraEdge is a leading colocation provider dedicated to local hosting with a network of edge data centers (248 sites) located in France. With the goal of revitalizing its data center portfolio (modernization and expansion), the company recently invested €440 million to modernize and expand its technical infrastructure, notably selecting high energy-efficiency electrical and cooling equipment to improve their portfolio's energy efficiency performance. ACT helped UltraEdge consolidate and secure the incentives associated with the French Energy Efficiency Certificate (EEC) scheme resulting from the work carried out at these sites.

The Challenge: Increasing Efficiency Across 248 Data Centers
France already has a significant number of existing data centers and has many more under construction. In 2024 alone, installed capacity increased by 40%. The country is expected to reach a capacity of 4.3 gigawatts by 2035.
UltraEdge is the French leader in edge data centers, with a network of sites spread across mainland France, including major sites at the heart of key business districts, offering high-performing, secure local hosting.
With a three-year revitalization project, UltraEdge chose to combine a strategy of site expansion and enlargement with an energy optimization policy. The overall goal is to reduce its customers' environmental footprint by offering high-performing, less energy-intensive hosting solutions. Given the sheer number of sites and equipment deployed across its portfolio, securing EEC’s became a major challenge for the company — hence the importance of the partnership between ACT and UltraEdge.
The Solution: An Experienced EEC Partner for Data Centers
UltraEdge chose to work with ACT because of its proven track record with managing and optimizing EEC incentives for data centers, and its reputation for rigor and professionalism.
ACT worked with the UltraEdge team to:
Collect site-specific metrics and data to estimate potential incentives for each of UltraEdge's projects
Collaborate with UltraEdge's internal teams and partners to ensure compliance with the scheme’s criteria and selection of relevant upgrades, optimizing available EEC incentives
Maintain control over EEC incentives by consolidating all project-level data, removing the need for individual consultations with contractors for each of their 248 sites
Secure EEC’s for the upgrades performed by managing the tracking, preparation, and submission of required documents to the issuing registry
To comply with the EEC scheme, a high level of responsiveness is required. Given the deadline pressure for documentation submission, ACT established a permanent partnership to facilitate the entire process, from the exploration phase to project completion. ACT’s team continues to explore new opportunities for the sites while monitoring active documentation, enabling UltraEdge to continue optimizing its financial returns, energy reduction performance and site expansion.
The Results: 100% Coverage Across 248 Sites
Thanks to the partnership with ACT, UltraEdge succeeded in securing EECs for its entire portfolio of data center sites and now has a clear overview of their associated energy savings as well as financial returns from the scheme.
The Top Results:
100% portfolio coverage: successful generation of EEC’s for all data center sites, with upgrades completed on all 7 interconnection nodes
Verifiable compliance: implementation of a verified framework covering 35,000 m² of hosting capacity, ensuring that every file is compliant and eligible under the scheme's requirements
Additional revenue: optimization of EEC files for UltraEdge's projects identified new opportunities, providing an additional source of revenue
The company now benefits from full transparency regarding the EEC scheme across their data center sites, with ACT helping to secure and optimize incentive potential. The team can now focus on its core mission — keeping France connected — instead of reallocating internal resources to EEC management.
"ACT established a solutions-based partnership. They were proactive in proposing projects and helped us find opportunities to go further."
